Information to distance learning students
For students attending Kristianstad University online courses, or courses with few campus classes (less than once a month), the library provides service that does not require visiting the library.
You have to live outside of Kristianstad municipality to qualify for this service. Residents of the municipality are required to visit the library for service. If you are a distance learning student with another university, contact that university's library, or your local public library to obtain service. Material which is available in the HKR library can be borrowed.
Library card application
To use the library services, you have to become a patron. To do this, please download and fill out the library card application. Send it to us by post and attach a copy of a valid ID (passport, driver's licence etc.). Please state in the message to us that you are a distance learning student.
Borrow & reserve books
The library will send books to you at no cost. This applies to students living in the Nordic countries and the rest of Europe. We do not send books to patrons living outside of Europe. The books are sent as regular surface mail within Sweden and usually it takes three days for the books to arrive. The patron pays for the return freight. If you live in the municipalities Hörby, Kristianstad, Perstorp, Hässleholm, Osby, Östra Göinge or Bromölla, you may return books to the local public libraries.
To request a book which is lent out, you make a reservation in our online public catalogue. Note: please state that the book should be sent home to you, otherwise we assume that you would like to collect the book at the library.
Books that are available on the shelf can not be reserved. To request those books, please send an email to email@example.com.
Request interlibrary loans
Books that are not owned by the Kristianstad University library can be requested from other libraries as interlibrary loans. Request loans using the order form for interlibrary loans. Please comment that you are a distance learning student. The delivery time varies but at least 10 days for domestic loans must be expected. To interlibrary loans, the lending library rules apply. Return freight is paid for by the patron. Note that you can not return interlibrary loans to any other library than the Kristianstad University library.
Article photocopies from printed and electronic journals and photocopies from other libraries are available for a fee. The article photocopies will be sent to your registered address along with an invoice. Please use the order form for interlibrary loans to order article photocopies. Before you order photocopies you have to search for the material in our held electronic journals and databases.
